Rural Leadership North Dakota visits Brazil

DICKINSON — Rural Leadership North Dakota visited Brazil recently to see agribusiness and tourist attractions in the South American country.

The Dickinson Press reports (http://bit.ly/XNfrIc) that the 10-day trip marked the first time the group traveled outside of North America.

Program director Marie Hvidsten says farmers in Brazil grow soy beans and corn, and the group also learned about how the country works with exports and policies.

Rancher and ag banker Anthony Larson says the rural people of Brazil and very much like rural North Dakotans. He says they're self-reliant people who are conservation oriented and have a good work ethic.

The State Board of Ag Research and Education started the organization 10 years ago to educate community leaders in ag and rural settings on state, national and international issues.
