Letter: Common sense is to fix the roofI subscribe to The Forum on the weekends, and I’m wondering where the common sense is in The Forum editorial of Feb. 17?
The governor has stated he’s OK with his house and the bill to replace the North Dakota governor’s residence was defeated. If the roof is leaking, by all means it should be fixed.
We live in a great state that is faith-based with hardworking, caring people.
We have spent years developing all the good we have to be proud of through all the hard times.
These past years we have been blessed with a bonanza because of the development of the Bakken.
Any benefits to the state from the surplus belong to all the people of the state.
Just to name a few: the disadvantaged, elderly, children, veterans, disabled, property tax relief, infrastructure and, as our good mayor is fond of saying, “and so forth.”
How will the pie be divided? All the people need some of the surplus now as we are continuing to store so much when we know much is there for the future.
My point is, fix the roof. After we take care of the needs, we can discuss our wants.
