Balance helps UND women's hockey prevail in playoff opener

GRAND FORKS – Six different players scored goals for the University of North Dakota as it won the opener of its Western College Hockey Association women’s series 6-1 against Minnesota State-Mankato on Friday.

Josefine Jakobsen had a goal and two assists for the UND (24-10-1), which can close out the best-of-3 series with a win in Game 2 at 2:07 p.m. today.

Becca Kohler, Michelle Karvinen, Monique Lamoureux and Jocelyne Lamoureux each added a goal and an assist for UND.

Tracy McCann scored the lone goal for the Mavericks (10-20-5).
