VIDEO: 3-vehicle crash at 45th St. and 17th Ave. S. sends three to hospital, causes traffic snarls
The three-vehicle crash consisted of two collisions, said Lt. Joel Vettel with Fargo Police.
First, a white car heading north on 45th Street attempted a left turn onto 17th Avenue when it was grazed on the rear end by another car heading south.
At that point, the white car and a large white SUV traveling south collided head-on in the intersection.
The second collision caused heavy damage to both vehicles, Vettel said. The vehicle only involved in the first collision suffered minor damage.
Both drivers and a passenger in the SUV were taken to the hospital with injuries, Vettel said. All three were adults.
Their conditions were not available.
“It was a significant crash, and the injuries were respondent with that type of crash,” Vettel said.
Traffic had to be rerouted around that intersection for more than two hours Friday while police investigated the crash and cleared debris, Vettel said.
The incident is still under investigation, Vettel said. Police are working on identifying the individuals involved and determining if alcohol was a factor.
