Namedroppers (March 04, 2013)HIGH HONORS: Britten Croves, a senior at Central Cass High School in Casselton, N.D., has been named a candidate in the 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Candidates were selected based on performance I the College Board SAT or the ACT Assessment. Further consideration is based on students’ essays, self-assessments, descriptions of activities, school recommendations and school transcripts. Semifinalists will be announced in early April. Croves is the daughter of James and Annette Croves.
MAKING THE GRADE: Mallory Hughes and Maxwell Tolstedt, Fargo, were named to the dean’s list at the University of Iowa, Iowa City.
NDSU NEWS: The following area students have been admitted to North Dakota State University “with distinction:” Jacob Mueller, son of Bill and Stephanie Smith, Fargo; Christina Bruenjes, daughter of Don and Jackie Bruenjes, Fargo; and Tyson Jorstad, son of Steve and Elaine Jorstad, Fargo. Distinction means that NDSU is acknowledging Mueller as an honor student.
MSUM NEWS: Kelsey Quaife, child of Jason and Melissa Quaife, Moorhead, has been awarded a $4,000 University Scholarship from Minnesota State University Moorhead. The scholarship is awarded based on ACT score and high school rank.
VCSU NEWS: Carly Binfet, daughter of Paul and Loretta Binfet, Fargo, has been awarded a V-500 Scholarship from Valley City (N.D.) State University. The scholarship was awarded based on ACT/SAT score, grade point average and high school class rank
AWARDS & OTHER RECOGNITIONS: Andrea Werth, Moorhead, was recently selected to receive free fuel from the Cenex Tanks of Thanks program. The program encourages people to nominate friends, family and neighbors for free fuel as a way to say thank you for doing good in the community. Werth was nominated for her work with the Moorhead Parent-Teacher’s Association and the local youth hockey program. Werth was given a $50 gift card for fuel redeemable at any Cenex retail location.
RECENT GRADUATES: Scott Ebert, Fargo, recently graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City.
SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS: West Fargo High School student Lucas Miller has been awarded a $500 Bank of North Dakota REAL DEAL Scholarship. The scholarship is based on community or school involvement and academic performance.
