ND justices rule against activist in ballot dispute

GRAND FORKS — The North Dakota Supreme Court has ruled against the man who wanted to be the North Dakota Libertarian candidate for governor.

The state had ruled earlier that Roland Riemers, of Grand Forks, didn't qualify for the ballot because his lieutenant governor candidate didn't turn in the right paperwork.

Riemers argued that the Democratic and Republican candidates for governor didn't fill out their paperwork correctly either — and they should have been dropped from the ballot.

The Supreme Court ruled said in a ruling released Tuesday that there's no evidence that the state discriminated against Riemers.
