Letter: Insensitivity in morgue story

Regarding “County morgue could set up shop in former Sunmart”: I read this article and could not believe the insensitivity expressed in the reporter’s statement: “new Cass County coroner could join them, bringing with him some of his cold clientele.” My guess is that the reporter thought he was making a clever play on words with “cold clientele.” Maybe he thought it was funny. It wasn’t. It was appalling. Instead he comes across as insensitive and boorish. He obviously has never had to deal with death on a close and personal level himself or he would have possibly thought twice and worded his article differently.

And where was his editor? Did someone actually print the story out and proofread it in black and white? Did his editor really review it or was it a simple glance at the computer screen?

Part of the problem everywhere in the computer era is that many people seldom print out what they just wrote and really look at it.

Erik Burgess should apologize to his Forum readers for his lapse in judgment.
