Novak sets rebound record as Dragons hold off Minot State

MOORHEAD – Senior forward Alex Novak grabbed 15 rebounds on Saturday at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse to set the career rebounding record at Minnesota State Moorhead.

Novak’s effort helped lift the Dragons to a 79-71 victory against Minot State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men’s basketball before 1,297 fans.

Novak has 1,028 career rebounds. Walt Whitaker (1978-82) held the previous mark with 1,017.

Novak added 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field against Minot State. Senior guard Anthony Tucker paced the Dragons with 20 points.

MSUM hosts Southwest Minnesota State at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the first round of the NSIC tournament.
