Novak helps Grand Forks girls to third-place finish

GRAND FORKS – Nicole Novak scored two goals to help Grand Forks to a 4-1 win over Jamestown in the third-place game of the North Dakota state girls hockey tournament on Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Ashley Becker and Lexi O’Halloran also scored goals for the KnightRiders (18-8-0).

Larissa Wiest scored a goal for Jamestown (18-8-0).

The fourth-place finish is the highest for Jamestown in program history.

Fargo South-Davies 6, Minot 1

Alex Woken and Brittany Potas each scored two goals to lead Fargo South-Davies to a 6-1 win over Minot in the fifth-place game on Saturday.

Lindsay LaMount and Summer Hayes also scored goals for the Bruins (16-10-0).

South-Davies goalie Emily Grothmann stopped 16 shots.
