Education group honors Jensen for excellenceST. PAUL – The Minnesota Association of School Administrators has named Phil Jensen, the Hawley School District superintendent, an Administrator of Excellence.
Jensen will be honored at the MASA conference March 14-15 in Brooklyn Park for his leadership, concern for students and involvement in professional and community affairs.
Jensen has been led Hawley’s schools since 2005. He’s implemented a free all-day kindergarten program, a Corporate Partner Program and performance-based salary incentives.
The district also purchased and developed its own preschool center.
Jensen has served as Region IV chairman of MASA for four years and is on several committees. He also sits on the board of directors for the Lakes Country Service Cooperative.
He has a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a master’s in education administration from St. Cloud (Minn.) State University.
