43 cars towed in first day of Moorhead's 2nd snow removal declarationMOORHEAD – Forty-three cars were towed Thursday, as Moorhead used its new snow removal declaration for the second time, according to Police Sgt. Steve Larsen.
The declaration establishes no-parking areas for two days near Minnesota State University Moorhead, Concordia College and Eventide to give crews a chance to clear roads heavily used for student parking.
The parking rules are still in effect today, with no parking from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on south and west sides of roads. Thursday’s restriction was for the north and east sides.
The vehicles are towed to the city’s impound lot on Highway 75 and 15th Avenue North and can be picked up for a $95 fee. Additional fees apply for vehicles that require extra equipment to be towed, such as those with four-wheel drive.
The emergency snow removal district was put in place this past summer, and the first snow removal was declared last month. More than 130 cars were towed in the two days of the first snow removal.
