Minn. school district installing Wi-Fi on buses

District blends transportation and technology

CHASKA, Minn. — A Minnesota school district is trying to help students make the most of their time by blending technology and transportation.

The Eastern Carver County School District is installing wireless Internet on its buses to give students the option of getting some homework done on what can be a long bus ride.

Transportation coordinator John Thomas says 25 buses have Wi-Fi so far. For student athletes like Bridgette Grobe the benefits are enormous. Grobe says she can better track her homework while traveling for games.

KMSP-TV (http://bit.ly/YdyRHi) reports some parents have questions about how the Internet use is monitored. Thomas says it's limited in the same way it is in the school building. He says the district hopes to eventually outfit all 110 buses.
