Grand Forks Red River vs. Jamestown

Grand Forks Red River

Coach: Bill Chase (4th season).

Record: 18-5-1 overall, 11-3 in East Region.

Road to state tournament: Red River was the No. 2 seed in the East Region. In the regional, the Roughriders beat West Fargo 7-1, Fargo North 6-3 and, in the championship, downed Grafton/Park River 6-3.

State tournament history: With the exception of 2010, Red River has qualified for every state tournament since the school opened in 1967-68. The Roughriders have won 15 state championships.

Leading scorers: Jr. F Jacob Benson 30-26–56; sr. D Jon Lizotte 12-27–39; sr. F Branden Lunski 14-17–31.

Leading goaltenders: Jr. Aaron Sauve 16-4-1, 2.05 GAA, .896 SP.

Jamestown

Coach: Matt Stockert (8th season).

Record: 13-11-0 overall, 10-6 in West Region.

Road to state tournament: Jamestown was the No. 5 seed in the West Region. In the regional, the Blue Jays beat Bottineau/Rugby 9-7, lost to Bismarck Century 4-3 before downing Mandan 4-3 in a state-qualifying game.

State tournament history: This is the second state appearance for Jamestown in the last three years. The Blue Jays didn’t qualify for state between 2000 and 2010. Jamestown is looking for its first state championship.

Leading scorers: Sr. F Jake Stilwell 32-26–58; sr. F Alex Williams 19-16–35; jr. F Jakobi Lux 13-18–31.

Leading goaltenders: Sr. Ben Walz 9-5-0, 2.63 GAA, .901 SP; sr. Tygh Yatskis 4-6-0, 3.40 GAA, .891 SP.

Fargo Davies vs. Minot

Fargo Davies

Coach: Brian Davidson (3rd season).

Record: 19-5-0 overall, 12-2 in East Region.

Road to state tournament: Davies was the regular-season East region champion. In the regional, Davies beat Devils Lake 8-2, lost to Grafton/Park River 2-1 and, in a state qualifier, beat Grand Forks Central 4-2.

State tournament history: This is the second straight state tournament appearance for Fargo Davies, which has fielded a hockey program for three years.

Leading scorers: Sr. F Chris Sigurdson 18-10–28; soph. F Aidan Hartness 8-17–25; jr. F Alek Groth 6-19–25.

Leading goaltenders: Sr. Tucker Windels 14-3-0, 1.89 GAA, .925 SP; sr. Nick Kazmierczak 5-2-0, 1.89 GAA, .939 SP.

Minot

Coach: Chad Burckhard (8th season).

Record: 15-8-1 overall, 11-3 in West Region.

Road to state tournament: The Magicians were the No. 2 seed from the West Region. In the regional, Minot beat Dickinson 4-0, beat Bismarck 4-1 but lost 4-2 to Bismarck Century in the championship.

State tournament history: This is the 31st state appearance for Minot. The Magicians won a state title in 1992.

Leading scorers: Jr. F Quinn Fuchs 7-36–43; soph. F Matt Flom 20-15–35; sr. D Morgen Martelle 9-20–29.

Leading goaltenders: Soph. Breydan Effertz 14-7-2, 2.38 GAA, .906 SP.

Fargo North vs. Bismarck Century

Fargo North

Coach: Rob Aasand (3rd season).

Record: 19-5-0 overall, 11-3 in East Region.

Road to state tournament: The Spartans were the No. 3 seed in the East Region. In the regional, North beat Grand Forks Central 4-1, lost to Grand Forks Red River 6-3 before downing Fargo South/Shanley 4-0 in a state-qualifying game.

State tournament history: The defending state champion Spartans are making their second straight tournament appearance and 35th overall appearance.

Leading scorers: Sr. F Cole Selberg 15-13–28; jr. F Jackson Graalum 11-10–21; sr. F Max Teschendorf 10-11–21.

Leading goaltenders: Soph. Austin Tuessaint 9-1-0, 1.17 GAA, .914 SP; sr. Christian Coleman 10-4-0, 1.66 GAA, .926 SP.

Bismarck Century

Coach: Troy Olson (8th season).

Record: 18-6-0 overall, 12-2 in West Region.

Road to state tournament: The Patriots were the No. 1 seed in the West Region. In the regional, Century beat Hazen/Beulah 12-0, beat Jamestown 4-3 and, in the championship, beat Minot 4-2.

State tournament history: Bismarck Century has made 14 state tournament appearances. The Patriots have made six consecutive trips to the state tournament.

Road to state tournament: The Spoilers were the No. 4 seed in the East Region. In the regional, Grafton/PR beat Fargo South/Shanley 6-3, beat Fargo Davies 2-1 before losing 6-3 to Grand Forks Red River in the title game.

State tournament history: Grafton/Park River has made 47 state tournament appearances. The Spoilers will be looking for their first state title since 2008 after losing in the championship against Fargo North last year.

Leading scorers: Jr. F Jade Miler 25-22–47; sr. F Peter Hills 13-20–33; sr. F 10-15–25; fr. F Levi Cudmore 10-10–20.

Bismarck

Record: 14-10-0 overall, 9-5-0 in West Region

Road to state tournament: The Demons were the No. 3 seed in the West Region. In the regional, Bismarck beat Mandan 7-0, lost to Minot 4-1 and, in a state qualifier, beat Bottineau/Rugby 3-1

State tournament history: Bismarck has made 30 state tournament appearances. This will be its 24th consecutive appearance.
