Low visibility leads to five-vehicle crash

DRAYTON, N.D. – A crash Tuesday morning involving two semis and three other vehicles sent two people to Altru hospital in Grand Forks, thanks to blowing snow and reduced visibility on Interstate 29 a few miles south of Drayton, according to North Dakota’s Highway Patrol.

The rear-end crash, which happened at 10:19 a.m., totaled one semi and one passenger vehicle.

The Highway Patrol said all five vehicles were northbound from Grand Forks when one stopped, causing a chain reaction and backing up traffic for miles. All but one of the vehicles had to be towed away.

The Highway Patrol said the case is still under investigation.
