Dalrymple signs North Dakota water projects bill

BISMARCK — Gov. Jack Dalrymple has signed a bill that makes $31 million immediately available for rural water projects in North Dakota.

Dalrymple announced the signing Tuesday. He says the bill passed with an emergency clause so that the funding is available to complete design work before the 2013 construction season.

Dalrymple says $21 million of the total is dedicated to the expansion of the Southwest Water Pipeline, which serves several communities in southwestern North Dakota and provides water to about 50,000 people.

The remaining funds are slated for rural water projects in Stutsman, McLean and Sheridan counties and in north-central North Dakota.
