UPDATED: Patrolman injured in crash on I-94

WEST FARGO – A state trooper and the driver of a pickup truck that rear-ended his patrol car on Interstate 94 here Monday both escaped serious injury, authorities said.

Highway Patrol Trooper Jamey Jahner and the pickup's driver both were treated and released at Sanford Medical Center, patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind said. Jahner sustained a cut to his head and will be off duty for a couple of days to recover, he said.

The crash happened at 7:54 p.m. on I-94 west of Sheyenne Street.

Jahner was parked along the highway with his car's emergency lights on, waiting for a tow truck to arrive to pull out a pickup and trailer that had slid into the median, when another pickup heading east lost control and rear-ended his car, said Sgt. Tara Morris of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation, Morris said. The pickup driver's name was not available, she said.
