VIDEO: Heavy snow causes roof to sag at Caterpillar facility in West Fargo

WEST FARGO – Heavy snow caused part of the roof at the Caterpillar Inc. remanufacturing plant in West Fargo to sag early today, breaking a sprinkler line inside the building, Fire Chief Roy Schatschneider said.

Firefighters were called to the facility at 1262 Main Ave. at about 12:20 a.m.

They shut off the sprinkler system, which had leaked a little bit but not enough to cause significant water damage, Schatschneider said.

No one was in the building when the roof sagged over roughly a 300-square-foot area, he said.

A structural engineer will have to inspect the building to determine how to handle the roof problem, he said.
