Record 9.3 inches of snow fell at Hector International AirportFARGO -- A record 9.3 inches of snow containing a record 0.93 inches of precipitation fell at Hector International Airport on Sunday, the National Weather Service said today.
Those snowfall and moisture totals are records for Feb. 10. The precipitation record broke the previous record of 0.34 inches in 2009, and the snowfall record beat the previous record of 3.1 inches set in 1953, according to the weather service.
Grand Forks also set new snowfall record of 4.8 inches, breaking the previous record of 3.1 inches in 1995.
The weather service forecast said there is a 50 percent chance of less than a half inch of snow today. Winds this morning were 23 mph from the northwest, gusting to 32 mph, creating hazardous weather conditions.
