Hyde's 19 points lead IPFW past Bison women

FARGO – Amanda Hyde scored 19 points as Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne defeated North Dakota State 70-58 in Summit League women’s basketball Saturday at the Bison Sports Arena.

The Bison held a 30-25 lead at halftime.

A 3-pointer from Holly Johnson put NDSU in front 37-34 with 13 minutes, 32 seconds left. But IPFW responded with an 11-0 run.

“We had a lot of game-plan breakdowns in the second half,” NDSU head coach Carolyn DeHoff said.

The 11-0 run was highlighted by Haley Seibert. Her 3-pointer gave the Mastodons a 39-37 lead that they would not relinquish.

Seibert scored 12 of her 15 points in the second half.

“She just kind of keeps the dribble alive,” DeHoff said. “… She’s somewhat quick and finishes well.”

Jamie Van Kirk led the Bison with 15 points. Dani DeGagne added 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Bison shot 56.5 percent in the first half but only 34.4 percent in the second half.

“Give credit to IPFW for going to a zone and forcing us to shoot 3s and stalling us out,” DeHoff said.
