Letter: Forum’s PGA coverage lackingHaving grown up on a farm in the Bismarck area, I remember well (and have a picture) of my dad reading The Forum daily in the 1950s. Now 50 years later, I am still reading The Forum. However, I really am disappointed in the quality of the paper, and especially the sports section.
Example? Almost zero coverage of the Professional Golf Association events. Today (Feb. 2), not a single article about the PGA Waste Management Open held in Scottsdale Ariz. And as always, just a partial listing of the top of the leader board. Really?
I have to believe I am not the only Fargo area fan/follower of PGA events who is disappointed in The Forum’s coverage of these events. Just because it was 20 degrees below zero here the past few days doesn’t mean we wouldn’t enjoy reading about some golf. I hope Minnesota native Tom Lehman doesn’t pick up a copy of The Forum to check on some golf news if he is passing through.
Oh, I almost forgot. The recent increase in the newsstand price of The Forum from $1 to $1.50. A more than 33 percent increase. Tell me one other business that can raise their prices overnight by 33 percent and actually stay in business! Thank you for allowing me to “vent,” as I’m sure that is all that will be accomplished with this letter.
