NDSU student leaders to take stance on chancellor buyout effort

FARGO – The North Dakota State University Student Senate will take a formal stance Sunday on a lawmaker’s amendment that would buy out the remaining contract of Chancellor Hamid Shirvani seven months into the job.

NDSU’s Student Government issued a news released Thursday stating delegates participated in a Wednesday conference call hosted by the North Dakota Student Association about the amendment offered by Sen. Tony Grindberg, R-Fargo, that would include money in the higher education funding bill to buy out Shirvani’s remaining three-year contract.

The NDSU Student Senate plans to introduce a resolution taking a formal stance on the effort during its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Great Plains Ballroom in the Memorial Union.
