Perham-Dent schools facing $1.2M deficit

PERHAM, Minn. – The Perham-Dent School District is facing a $1.2 million deficit.

WDAY-TV reports that the district has lower-than-expected enrollment. The district started the school year with 1,369 students, compared with 1,390 in 2011 at the same time.

The school district is also facing soaring technology costs, though $142,000 was tacked on to the budget for technology updates, such as adding iPads to the classroom. Cases for the iPads alone cost about $55,000.

The school board will meet next on Feb. 20.
