KFGO raising funds for rescued horsesFARGO – Shawna Olson, ag director at KFGO radio in Fargo, is trying to raise $15,000 to help horses rescued in western North Dakota.
Ninety-six dead horses were discovered last week on a Morton County property, and three dead horses were found on property in Burleigh County. About 160 horses have survived, but money is needed to purchase hay.
Many of the horses are being cared for at the Triple H Miniature Horse Rescue near Mandan, N.D. A load of delivered hay costs about $6,000.
The average size of a load of hay is 27 tons, and an average horse eats about 20 pounds of hay per day. For more information, call Radio Fargo-Moorhead at (701) 237-5346.
