Video: Horace man hurt in rollover on icy I-29

FARGO – A Horace man was hurt Tuesday morning after the SUV he was driving slid off Interstate 29 and rolled in the ditch just south of 52nd Avenue, ejecting him from the vehicle, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.

Kurt Gebeke, 50, was taken by F-M Ambulance to Essentia Health with unknown injuries, the patrol stated in a news release.

Gebeke was conscious at the crash scene, Trooper Dave Erdmann said.

Gebeke lost control of the 2000 Chevy Blazer on an icy stretch of southbound I-29 just south of the interchange at about 7:20 a.m., the patrol said.

The SUV was totaled.

The patrol responded to a total of six crashes in the Fargo metro area Tuesday morning. The other five resulted in property damage only and ranged from a one-vehicle rollover to a three-vehicle crash, Sgt. Troy Hischer reported.

In addition to the icy roads, contributing factors in the crashes were speed and following too closely, Hischer stated.
