Man charged with punching a grandfather in Fargo pleads guiltyFARGO – A California man accused of punching a grandfather who asked him not to swear in front of his grandson pleaded guilty Monday in Cass County Court to two charges of felony assault.
In return for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop a felony robbery charge against 29-year-old Brenden Marjama, made in connection with a September 2012 assault on Richard Matthews at the Ground Round restaurant in Fargo.
Court documents say Marjama then went to the Hooters restaurant down the street from the Ground Round and assaulted another restaurant patron in the parking lot there, demanding his wallet.
Prosecutors say each of the felony assault charges against Marjama comes with a potential five years in prison. Judge Douglas Herman ordered a pre-sentencing investigation in the case.
