Corps seeking comment on North Dakota riverbank projectMEDORA, N.D. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking opinions on a proposed river bank project in the North Dakota Badlands.
The project would stabilize the banks of a portion of the Little Missouri River near Medora. Corps officials say it would improve safety for drivers.
The Dickinson Press reports that the bank has been eroding for several years, leaving vertical drop-offs of more than 25 feet in some areas.
The corps is asking for comment on possible impacts to the environment, such as effects on endangered species, historic properties and water quality.
