Food safety technology firm opens in Fargo

In response to the increase in product recalls and food-borne illness outbreaks linked to spices, seeds, nuts and other low moisture foods, Napasol AG, a Swiss supplier of high performance steam-vacuum pasteurization and sterilization equipment, has opened the Fargo headquarters of the independent entity Napasol North America.

Jon Wanzek is an owner/partner and president of Napasol North America, which will develop the North American market, including Canada and Mexico, for its pasteurization and sterilization technology.

The company also plans to locate a research and development lab in Fargo in the near future.

The technology combines steam and vacuum in a thermal process delivering pathogen reduction at relatively low temperatures without affecting moisture content.

Napasol installations have been used for applications on spices, herbs, nutraceutical ingredients and a wide range of nuts, edible seeds, dried fruits and powders.
