Witnesses say ND murder suspect sought help buying gunMINOT, N.D. — Three people who attended a Job Corps center with a man accused of murdering four people in Minot two years ago say Omar Mohamed Kalmio sought their help in buying a gun.
Former student Rosy Bautista also testified during Kalmio's trial on Wednesday that she once saw a gun in his vehicle. Defense attorney Thomas Glass questioned the recollection because Bautista initially told police the vehicle was a car but in court she said it was a sport utility vehicle.
No weapon was recovered in the Jan. 28, 2011, shooting deaths of 19-year-old Sabrina Zephier, the mother of Kalmio's child, and her mother, brother and mother's boyfriend.
Kalmio is a Somali national who says he is in the U.S. under political asylum.
