Dickinson man killed in crashDICKINSON, N.D. – One man is dead after his pick-up hit a truck trailer north of Dickinson.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Travis Paul Koapke, of Huron, S.D., was driving a Peterbilt truck southbound on Highway 22, three miles north of Dickinson. Twenty-year-old Kevin Lee Theurer II, of Dickinson, was driving behind Koapke when around 10:45 a.m., Theurer’s Chevrolet Silverado rear-ended the trailer Koapke was hauling, totaling Theurer’s front end. Theurer’s vehicle came to rest in the west ditch.
Theurer was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck by Dickinson Ambulance, but was pronounced dead. Koapke was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
The conditions on the blacktop road were cloudy and windy. The crash is being investigated by North Dakota Highway Patrol.
