Style Profile: Boutique owner favors girly, edgy style
O’Day’s style strikes a balance between adventurous and classic, and I like her try-anything attitude.
I spotted her downtown at Proper & Prim (a clothing and shoe boutique, 317 N. Broadway) rocking black booties and a fun printed dress.
Describe your style. It’s an eclectic mix of girly but not too girly, and edgy but not too edgy.
I like to wear a lot of dresses, skirts, colors and prints, but I also like to wear all black.
What are you wearing? A dress from Proper & Prim by Many Belles Down, rings from O’Day Cache, H&M and the studio (a vintage boutique located at 11 8th St. S.), Jeffrey Campbell booties, necklace from Anthropologie and a Target belt.
Where do you find style inspiration? Instagram feeds and blogs.
Some of my favorites are the Face Hunter (www.facehunter.blogspot.com) and StyleLikeU (stylelikeu.com).
He’s (Face Hunter photographer Yvan Rodic) all over the world so it’s fun to see the different styles he captures.
StyleLikeU focuses on home interiors and fashion.
Has anything in particular inspired you lately? Solange Knowles’ music video for “Losing You.”
I love how she mixes prints and wears suits. It makes me want to wear a suit.
Did you make any fashion-related resolutions this year? I decided I’d try to paint my nails every Monday, and so far, so good. (She’s wearing a saturated dusty blue called “Blue Lagoon” by Alessandro International.)
What five things should every woman have in her closet? 1. A perfect dress that’s suitable for any occasion. It doesn’t have to be an LBD (little black dress), either. 2. Black opaque tights. I’m trying out some by UNIQLO that are supposed to keep you warm. 3. A statement necklace. 4. Comfy shoes because it’s always the worst when your feet ache. 5. A great coat.
