YMCA food and fleece drive reaches ceilingFARGO – The YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties AmeriCorps team hosted its annual food and fleece drive this week.
The collected food will be donated to the New Life Center in Fargo. The fleece will be made into blankets.
Members of the YMCA aquatics staff put a twist on the food drive this year by challenging students taking swimming lessons to collect enough food to stack from the bottom of the pool to the ceiling.
That goal was reached. As a reward for the kids, the swim instructors will jump in the pool fully clothed.
Annie Harman, YMCA’s volunteer program coordinator, said they haven’t decided on an organization to receive the blankets. Interested organizations can call her at (701) 364-4134.
