Car ‘explodes’ after Fargo owner starts itFARGO – A car explosion here about 12:28 p.m. Friday left the vehicle totaled.
The car owner started his car while it was in the garage of a four-plex apartment at 2911 7th Ave. N., said assistant Fargo Fire Chief LeRoy Skarloken.
The engine “exploded,” and the man got out of his car. The fire spread within minutes. When firefighters arrived, the car was engulfed in flames and heavy smoke could be seen from outside the garage, Skarloken said.
Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours, Skarloken said.
The car sustained about $3,000 to $5,000 in damage, Skarloken said. The garage was about 50 to 80 percent damaged.
No one was injured.
The other three stalls of the garage were empty, and there was one car outside that was not damaged.
