VIDEO: Texas senator settles up with Hoeven on Bison FCS championship game wagerWASHINGTON – The North Dakota State Bison football team made mincemeat out of the Sam Houston State Bearkats, and now U.S. Sen. John Hoeven has some Texas beefsteaks to show for it.
The steaks are Hoeven’s winnings from his friendly wager with Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, on the outcome of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title game on Jan. 5.
The Bison cruised to a 39-13 victory for their second consecutive national title.
Hoeven, R-N.D., bet North Dakota bison steaks against Cornyn’s Texas beef steaks, which Cornyn delivered this week.
“We appreciate Sen. Cornyn for being such a good sport and for bringing us the choicest beef steaks from his home state,” Hoeven said in a news release. “We’re very proud of NDSU’s accomplishments and congratulate the coaches, players, administration and fans for capping a tremendous season with a second national championship.”
