VIDEO: Good Samaritans pull suicidal male off Moorhead train tracksMOORHEAD – Police here are seeking out several good Samaritans who pulled a suicidal male off the railroad tracks on Wednesday, according to a WDAY news report.
One of the good Samaritans, Martial Avohou, of Moorhead, was out looking for a job when he noticed a man clinging to railroad tracks downtown and a nearby woman yelling for help.
A train was coming down the tracks, Avohou said, but he slid under the crossing arms to try to save the man, WDAY reports.
The suicidal man, who is unidentified in the report, fought back, trying to stay clung to the tracks. Avohou eventually dragged the man to safety. Others stopped to help and hold the man down before police arrived.
“God has allowed me to save a life today,” Avohou said. “Because if I was not here, I swear to God, this guy was dead.”
Police Lt. Tory Jacobson credited Avohou and the others involved for their “great heroic attributes.”
