Gooseberry Park Players names new artistic directorMOORHEAD – Moorhead’s Gooseberry Park Players has a new leader. Debbie Griffith takes over as managing artistic director.
Griffith takes over for James Cermak, who announced his retirement from Gooseberry last year after 20 years with the group. Cermak will act as a consultant for Gooseberry this season.
Originally from the Detroit Lakes, Minn., area, Griffith graduated from Gustavus-Adolphus in 1989 with degrees in speech, theater and secondary education. Over the last 25 years, she has directed numerous youth and community theater productions in the Minneapolis, International Falls, and Detroit Lakes areas. She’s also a motivational speaker and hosts a 60-second radio feature called “Everyday Matters” heard on 67 radio stations across the United States and Canada.
The troupe will announce its summer production later this year.
