Authorities searching for missing snowmobiler in WisconsinDOUGLAS COUNTY, Wis. - Officials in Douglas County are searching for a snowmobiler reported missing on Saturday.
The Superior Fire Department said Sunday that Craig W. Friebe, 51, went missing Saturday morning while snowmobiling near Superior.
The fire department and other agencies started searching at 9 a.m. Sunday, and ended for the night at 4 p.m. without locating Friebe. They plan to resume the search at 8 a.m. today.
Sunday's search focused on the Nemadji River, the Tri-County Corridor from Superior to Brule and the Wild Rivers Trail from Superior to Oakland. Crews also searched the Superior waterfront.
Other agencies involved in the search Sunday included fire departments from the town of Superior, Parkland, Amnicon, Poplar, Maple and Brule; the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; the Douglas County Sheriff's Office; Superior Police Department; U.S. Coast Guard and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad.
