Teamsters Club gives $25,000 to disabled vetsFARGO – The Fargo Teamsters Club is giving back one last time, after closing its doors for good.
Bar and gaming manager Kathy Sauvageau surprised the Disabled American Veterans with a $25,000 check on Saturday, WDAY-TV reported.
The money was part of $71,000 in charitable gaming funds left over from the club’s operations.
The Teamsters’ national president closed the club in November, accusing people who run it of mishandling money.
Sauvageau told WDAY that the club’s closing was “a huge hit for the community. It’s a sad chapter; we were the last union bar in the United States.”
The Teamsters also gave $10,000 to the Emergency Food Pantry, and $5,000 to the Dorothy Day House and Special Olympics, WDAY reported.
