Letter: Society requires limits, moralsAs I recall, in the preamble to the U.S. Constitution it says establish justice, “insure domestic tranquility” etc. Well now, if the National Rifle Association wants to keep the public armed with assault weapons and magazines to equip these weapons with unlimited fire power, then we should ensure that all households in the U.S. have some of these.
How else will all of us be safe if only the NRA establishment has them? Maybe the NRA wants to get and keep all these weapons to take over our government. It seems they have unlimited voice power to see that all of their agendas are public policies.
I believe that we, the people of the U.S., have the right to bear arms according to the Second Amendment of the Constitution.
But how much and how lethal do these weapons need to be? Are we going to remain a civilized society with morals and boundaries or a society with no background checks, and unlimited fire power for anyone who can get a weapon?
