Style Profile: Musician goes for androgynous, hipster look
San Diego, Santa Cruz, Calif., Japan, Fargo and the Philippines have all been home to the self-described free spirit.
I spotted her at the Red Raven looking stylish and perfectly at home in the cozy coffee shop.
Describe your style. It’s a hybrid of hipster and androgynous.
I like to wear tank tops to show off my tattoos (she has four).
What are you wearing today? My shirt is from Urban Outfitters; the scarf was a gift; my shoes are from Target and everything else is from a thrift store.
Do you change up your look? I dress differently when I want people to take me seriously because I look young (she’s 27).
I also dress differently when I play shows. My style will depend on where I’m performing. Sometimes it’s hippie; sometimes it’s rocker.
What’s your style philosophy? What you wear is your identity. I dress in what I feel like wearing.
Where do you shop? Thrift stores, Buffalo Exchange, American Apparel and Urban Outfitters.
I buy from men’s sections, too.
What are your go-to clothing items? V-neck T-shirts and cardigans.
Cat person or dog person? Cat. I have a black cat named Mr. Gandhi.
East Coast or West Coast? West. I like the diversity and open mindedness.
I plan to move to Portland, Ore., Denver or Seattle soon, or maybe Minneapolis.
