Letter: President is not a decent man

Far from being a decent man, President Barack Obama exploits the decency of others.

Consider when the president speaks at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a stimulus project. He finds the event attended by politicians who oppose him on spending. Some of these politicians have publicly stated they attend such events to show respect for the president.

In response to such respect, the president criticizes his opponents with savage glee, publicly slapping them in the face as he accuses them of hypocrisy. Oddly, the president claims he is a Christian, but what does such conduct say about him?

Unfortunately, the president’s poor personal example sets a bad tone for the nation. It encourages people to be smug, rude and ungracious. That’s far more serious than one’s views on spending.
