Kirkland’s home décor store opens in south Fargo

FARGO – Home décor retailer Kirkland’s has opened a store at 4427 13th Ave. S. in Fargo in the former Hancock Fabrics location near Hobby Lobby.

The store specializes in items such as framed art, mirrors, candles, lamps, picture frames, rugs, seasonal merchandise and gifts.

This is the first location in North Dakota for the chain, which operates 324 stores nationwide.

What sets Kirkland’s apart from other home décor stores are its affordable prices, selection and a shopping experience with a hometown feel, said manager Kayla Merkle.

Merkle also plugged Kirkland’s website and the company’s presence on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Additional merchandise, as well as design ideas and tips, are available to shoppers online.

A common misconception is that Kirkland’s is affiliated with the Kirkland-brand items sold at Costco. The companies are not related.

The store officially opened Dec. 8. A grand opening celebration is planned from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 2 and noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 3.

Shoppers will have an opportunity to register for the chance to win a $500 gift card during the grand opening. The drawing will be at 4 p.m. Feb. 3, and the winner need not be present.
