Mastodons top Bison in women’s basketball

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fort Wayne’s Amanda Hyde scored a game-high 22 points and led the team with seven rebounds to power the Mastodons to a 65-58 victory over North Dakota State on Thursday in Summit League women’s basketball.

NDSU’s Dani DeGagne led the Bison with 16 points and Marena Whittle added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

“We went into a drought in the second half,” Bison head coach Carolyn DeHoff said. “We gave them an 8- or 10-point cushion there.”

NDSU (5-11, 1-3): DeGagne 6-17 4-4, Birkel 5-12 0-0, Johnson 0-3 0-0, Van Kirk 4-11 0-0, Whittle 4-6 4-4, Keena 2-2 2-2, Gaines 1-5 0-0. Totals 22-56 10-10 58.
