FARGO - In the past, an oil and gas mineral lease was an opportunity for the mineral owner to negotiate issues such as a bonus payment, duration of the primary term of the lease and royalty payments. Leases also were an opportunity to address issues relating to the use of the land surface, such as location of the well, oil production facilities and pipelines.
