Letter: Dorothy Dodds did great workIt is a shame that the passing of one of Fargo-Moorhead’s greatest children’s advocate was not formally recognized by The Forum; however, I am sure the many children and families she touched miss her dearly.
Longtime teacher, Minnesota State University Moorhead legend and local resident Dorothy Dodds died on Dec. 15 after devoting her life to the betterment of all children. Active in educational, community and political arenas, Dodds created the initial early childhood education curriculum for Minnesota, helped found the Moorhead Healthy Community Initiative, and worked to ensure that all children were unconditionally cared for and safeguarded.
Whether with her own neighborhood children or children being served in day care settings, or working with professionals whose responsibility it would become to teach children, Dodds worked tirelessly to champion the rights of our children. She made Fargo-Moorhead a better place for all of us.
