Woman reports suspicious traffic stop near BiwabikBIWABIK, Minn. - The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman reported being pulled over by two men who appeared to be impersonating police officers Saturday night near Biwabik.
The incident happened about 7:15 p.m. Saturday on County Highway 4 about five miles south of Biwabik, the sheriff’s office reported. The female driver, who was traveling alone, reported that two men in a small, unmarked car with dash-mounted emergency lights pulled her over. The woman became suspicious about the males’ appearance, and she drove away without being pursued further.
The sheriff’s office advises that drivers who are suspicious about a vehicle attempting to pull them over drive to a well-lit or populated area; call 9-1-1 to report the incident; and request identification of anyone claiming to be a law enforcement officer in such a situation.
Biwabik is about 65 miles north of Duluth.
