Letter: A fair shot for all North DakotansIn response to The Forum editorial “More cliffs just ahead in Congress” (Jan. 2), I share the relief of many Americans that the tax cuts on the middle class were extended. It is laudable that Congress was able to work across party lines to pass this common-sense measure, albeit in the eleventh hour.
Certainly there is still more to do on the long road to recovery. The economy is still weak and millions continue to look for work. It is also regrettable that, at the end of his term, Congressman Rick Berg was unable to look past partisan politics and voted, in effect, for a $2,200 tax hike on the middle class.
However, no matter how long the road to recovery and regardless of how many “cliffs” still face Congress and our nation, North Dakota Fair Share will continue to work with the coalition we have built right here in Fargo. I am excited to continue working on behalf of middle- class North Dakotans and small- business owners to ensure that every North Dakotan gets a fair shot.
