Duluth organizers hope to break snow angels record

DULUTH, Minn. - Duluth Rotarians and Proctor High School students are going to try to get 9,000 people to flop down in the snow and wave their arms and legs in an effort to set a world record.

They’re calling the event “Make Your Mark: Angels for a Cause,” and it’s set for 11 a.m. Feb. 9 on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus. The exact patch of snow still is being worked out.

Besides getting in the Guinness Book of World Records, organizers in the Rotary of Duluth Club 25 and Proctor DECA club say they are using the event to raise money for Global Team for Local Initiatives, an organization that works on development projects in Ethiopia. A donation of $5 per person or $10 per family is suggested.
