2 injured in truck-car collision near PerhamPERHAM, Minn. – Two women were injured Friday morning after a utility truck broadsided a car near here.
According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office:
Jamie Kent Huttenen, 42, was heading west on County Road 34 about 8:30 a.m. in a 1994 Chevy Kodiak, a commercial vehicle. Kodiak models are large utility trucks, often equipped with a hydraulic bed.
As Huttenen approached the junction with County Road 125, so did 18-year-old Sophie Viola Byer, of Perham. Byer was driving a 2008 Pontiac.
As Byer pulled into the intersection, heading north on 410th Avenue, she was struck by Huttenen’s vehicle.
Byer told officers she looked but did not see Huttenen coming.
Both Byer and Huttenen were taken was taken by ambulance to Perham Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Both women were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Huttenen was cited by Minnesota State Patrol Commercial Vehicle inspectors for license violations.
