11 arrested for DWI in Clay this monthMOORHEAD – Following increased enforcement, 10 adults and one minor have been arrested in December for driving while intoxicated here, according to a news release from the Moorhead Police Department.
The arrests were made during a “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign that ran statewide for the month, the release said.
“DWI patrols are effective to reducing drunk driving activity, but it is clear that the issue remains a real problem that puts our roads in danger,” Lt. Deric Swenson said in the release.
A DWI offense can result in loss of license for up to a year, thousands of dollars in costs and possible jail time, the release said.
From 2009 to 2011 in Clay County, drunk driving crashes accounted for two deaths and 13 serious injuries, the release said. During the same period, 1,655 motorists were arrested for DWI.
