Longtime Otter Tail tackle shop burns downBATTLE LAKE, Minn. – A long-standing tackle shop here burned down on Wednesday morning.
A passerby noticed smoke and flames coming from the roof of Ken’s Tackle on the eastern edge of Otter Tail Lake at around 4 a.m., according to a WDAY news report. The building was a total loss, the report said.
Owner Gary Peterson said he had recently been battling frozen water lines and had wrapped some of them with heat tape on Tuesday, the report said.
The shop’s official website says it has been around since 1972 and touts it as the only full-service bait and tackle shop on Otter Tail Lake.
Peterson purchased the shop in 2005, the website states. A message on the front page of the site says he currently has no future plans for the shop.
“Sorry for the news. Thank you for your business and support,” Peterson wrote.
